Ankaa
Ankaa is the Red House in USP, and the A in UNITAS.
Fifth in line in UNITAS order but first in SPIRIT is Ankaa, the Red house. Alpha Phoenicis, formerly named Ankaa, the brightest star in the constellation of Phoenix. Like its namesake, Ankaa stands out as a house of fiery passion — for mahjong, intellectual debates, taking up space in the dining hall (before COVID-19 took it all up), late night heart-to-heart talks (HTHTs), other social gatherings like Mum-mum/Mankaan, Theme Room Red Get-togethers, and sports, ranging from Quidditch to USSally to Ultimate.
Ankaa is a house with a strong sense of solidarity and community. Despite our diverse experiences and personalities, Ankaa is the glue that binds us together. Each batch of Ankees remain a closely knit bunch throughout university, weathering the fire of adversity.
House Animal
The house animal of Ankaa is the phoenix.
House Lore
Whilst this is hotly debated and still up in the air, the mascot for Ankaa is most often represented as a phoenix, not a chicken. And as phoenixes without opposable thumbs, we sure do spill a lot of tea. Throughout our iterations of Red, our orientation group names have iterated through Vega, Darkhan, Vilya, Azarya, Aviur, Angstrom, Anansi, Alerion, Aria, Akari, and currently Apollo.

House Events
Mid Autumn Festival
The Ankaa Mid Autumn Festival is our annual homecoming celebration which we held at the Botanic Gardens in 2020 as a picnic. Other iterations of Ankaa Mid Autumn Festival have seen lantern walkabouts and pomelo peeling contests.
Ankaalloween (Halloween)
Ankaalloween means Trick or Treat and Pranking Season, but wholesome parties are still the norm.
Ankaa Chinese New Year
Ankees get together to celebrate a late CNY with a socially-distanced barbecue, mahjong, and calligraphy.
Prankaa Prankee
Prankaa Prankee is another house event with even more opportunities to give gifts, or pranks. Not affiliated with Ursaia’s Buaya Buayee event.
TRR/TRB Get-Togethers
TRR/TRB Get-Togethers are a mainstay of Ankaa social gatherings pre- and post- Circuit Breaker with console games, chill chats, foosball, and good vibes.
Ankaarnival
Ankaarnival is a series of activities to complete to win prizes, eat food, and have fun!
Online Games (UTown of Salem, Santa’s Adventure)
Online games include original telegram games in the style of Werewolf/Mafia, which are self-run and managed to celebrate festivities.
Online Meetups
Ankees gather online for mahjong, games, movies, tea time, and more.
