USP Ambassadors
USP Ambassadors is a programme under the USP admin office that trains USP students to represent and showcase USP to the public and the wider USP community through outreach events, visits, and content creation.
We conduct outreach to the various pre-university institutions (JCs, Polys, IB schools, etc) and at the various Faculty open houses. USP Ambassadors are also involved in strategic planning for content on various social media platforms and websites, and planning the annual Open House.
Key Events
Our ambassadors are involved in various outreaches across the year, where they have the opportunity to share their USP experiences with prospective students.
School Outreaches
We conduct outreaches to various pre-university institutions (JCs, Polys, IB schools, etc) and at the various Faculty open houses.

USP Info Sessions/ USP Mass Outreaches
USP Info Sessions are organised during December and prospective students are invited to Cinnamon College to hear from our faculty and ambassadors. We also host visitors from other universities as well.

Open Day
Every year, our ambassadors work hard to plan for the annual NUS Open Day, with hopes of giving prospective students a taste of the USP experience through a series of activities and events organised exclusively for them. While Open Day is planned by the Open Day Committee, all ambassadors are involved in the execution of Open Day and the various activities.

Committees
Beyond outreaches, ambassadors can join a committee that best suits their interests and capabilities.
Open Day Committee
Open Day is an annual event that targets prospective students, and provides them with an insight into what life in USP is like. This year (2021), USP held an e-Open Day, where plenty of activities and events were held, including but not limited to sample classes, live tours, Ask Me Anything sessions. Open Day 2022 will likely be a hybrid/physical event, although this will be dependent on the Government’s restrictions at that point in time.
The Open Day team helms one of USP’s largest outreach event, during which ambassadors and the USP community will unite to engage the public by sharing their own USP experiences. There are various opportunities for you in the Open Day Committee, such as programmes, logistics, design & publicity. The publicity team will focus on website design, media content, poster design and video production. The programmes team, on the other hand, will focus on the planning, facilitation and execution of the actual event flow.
Newsletter Committee
The Newsletter is a new initiative to complement the current USP prospectus. It will primarily be an external facing newsletter which will be distributed digitally to prospective students during Outreach events. The Newsletter team will oversee the conceptualisation and writing of articles and stories to showcase what life is like in USP. On top of that, you will have the opportunity to design the newsletter in a visually appealing way to deliver the content across to potential students effectively.
Content Creation Committee
The content creation committee for USP Ambassadors are involved in creating and curating content for USP’s social media pages to help publicise USP to a larger group of audience. We are in charge of manning the Instagram page of USP. In AY21/22, we are looking forward to creating more new social media initiatives that can allow USP students to share more about USP to their friends beyond USP.
Programmes Committee
The programmes committee focuses on the wellbeing of our fellow ambassadors. We ensure ambassadors are well supported and cared for through organising bonding and engagement activities for ambassadors. We are also in charge of welfare packs and appreciation gifts to thank the ambassadors for their hard work throughout the academic year.
Ambassadors’ Training Programme
The Ambassadors’ Training Programme is a training session that all trainee ambassadors have to undergo during their first year as a USP Ambassador. Training usually takes place during recess week of Semester 1, aimed to equip ambassadors with the relevant USP knowledge, skills, tour routes, and USP Story so that they can be confident in representing USP to the wider public.
Training Milestones
Introduction to your Committees (Week 5) After ambassadors have been officially recruited, they will have the opportunity to choose committees they are interested in. Results of the committees assigned will be released in Week 5, and committee heads will contact their members.
Ambass Orientation + Meet your Ambass Buddy (Recess Week) Once recruitment and committees have been settled, ambassadors will undergo an Ambass Orientation (training programme) to familiarise themselves with the job scope of a USP Ambassador. During Ambass Orientation, Year 1 trainee ambassadors will get to meet and interact with their Ambass Buddy.
Live Tour Demos (Sem 2 Week 3 for Y1 Trainee Ambassadors; Winter Break for Y2-Y4 Trainee Ambassadors) After the Ambass Orientation, trainee ambassadors will try their hand at conducting live tours. These trainee ambassadors will first be brought on a live tour by a senior Ambassador to learn how to conduct it. They will then conduct their own live tours where they will be assessed and provided with feedback.
USP Story Presentation and Feedback Session (Summer Break for Y1 Trainee Ambassadors; Winter Break for Y2-Y4 Trainee Ambassadors) The USP Story is a personalised story for individual ambassadors to share more about their USP journey. Trainee ambassadors will learn how to create their own USP Story during Ambass Orientation and they will present it to the Ambass Exco during the summer/winter break where feedback will be provided.
Ambass Buddy
An Ambass Buddy is a senior ambassador who will provide guidance to first-time ambassadors throughout their first year. Ambass Buddies will help prepare their trainees for the various tasks of an ambassador, including talking to prospective students during outreaches, conducting live tours during Open Day, or even sharing about their USP journey through interesting and informative USP Stories. Ambass Buddies will ensure that our new ambassadors are prepared with the most accurate information about USP and engaging ways to present them - while also being ready friends within the ever-growing Ambass community.

Application FAQ

Commitment Level
USP Ambassadors is a commitment that will last throughout your USP journey. There are the specific outreach commitments that all ambassadors have to meet. However, ambassadors may face certain periods in which they are unable to fulfil these requirements due to other commitments (eg. SEP, internship). In view of that, the programme is flexible in adjusting the requirements to individual ambassadors that have special reasons for not meeting the ambassadors’ commitments.
